Hopefully you have since perused a few of my more recent posts. I hope that with time my writing has improved, if only very minutely. "No matter the book, if I come across a word I do not know, I do not read another page until I have looked up said word and written the definition in the margin. Even if I have a pretty good idea what the word means from context, I look it up to homologate my suspicions. Why be unsure if we can be certain? In reading works of history I omnivorously look up subject matter, whether it concerns names, geography or organizations. Why just learn about something if you can become expert in it?"

I could have shortened the quote, but the entirety is important. This is something I once did. Believe it or not, the business of figuring out what I want to do when I grow up got me away from this, first, and reading next. Especially in my three attempts at college. I "don't have time" to spend that long on books. I need to read them and move on with learning the things I need to regurgitate for the test/report/paper.

And just today I was thinking about how much I missed reading for pleasure and also looking up things I didn't know as I came across them. I learned a TON about ancient Greece while doing that for Homer's "The Illiad" and "The Odyssey." So in thinking today, I have decided to do that again. Thanks for being there to reinforce that desire!~Oceanmemorieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09704666043235252268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5800346854526912339.post-45388894952080649952013-04-04T13:42:17.187-06:002013-04-04T13:42:17.187-06:00I'd say you were already starting with about 1...I'd say you were already starting with about 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 points, give or take a few 100,000,000 pts... :)M. It's always nice to receive positive comments on the things we write, especially if we deserve it, and you definitely do.

Answering your question, I'm sure we have a friend of a friend who's friend with one of our friend's friend (talk about six degrees of separation), but that's not it. Sorry. Here's how I knew about your blog. Excited as I am about going to BYU next Fall (I'm going for my master's in Hispanic Literatures), I'm all the time searching for #byu, #provo, #whatever in Instagram. So a couple of weeks ago I think you were tagged in picture or one of your pictures went there, and, upon putting on my Instagram-stalker costume, I ended up in your profile, which in turn was linked to your blog. And that's how I found about it. I love reading good blogs, and I hardly ever comment on them, mainly because the blogs I follow that deserve commenting are massive ones, and I just assume the author won't even notice what I said. But then I came across yours, and you had just started it, which was new to me, start reading a blog from its very beginning. So there you have it. Sorry about my verbiage.
Berenicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09927925066683783041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5800346854526912339.post-329553729762360052013-03-28T05:09:35.979-06:002013-03-28T05:09:35.979-06:00Hey how did you here about my blog by the way? Your late-blooming took you to a great happy ending that will most probably never end. I love your outlook on the subject and identify with more than a couple things you've said. L'Amour's words reminded me of intertextuality, a passioante subject for me. If you haven't read about it, do it.

Great piece!Berenicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09927925066683783041noreply@blogger.com
